ENGAGEMENT OF ACT APPRENTICES UNDER APPRENTICES ACT 1961 NOTIFICATION-01/2021 S ACT 1961 NOTIFICATION-01/2021
ONLINE applications are invited from eligible candidates for engagement as Apprentices for imparting training under the Apprentices Act, 1961 in the designated trades at various Divisions/Workshops/Units in the jurisdiction of Southern Railway. Candidates residing in the following locations/areas falling within the Geographical Jurisdiction of Southern Railway alone are eligible to apply.
1. Whole State of Tamil Nadu
2. Whole Union Territory of Puducherry
3. Whole State of Kerala
4. Whole Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands
5. ONLY the two districts of Andhra Pradesh, namely, SPSR Nellore and Chittoor.
6. ONLY one district of Karnataka, namely, Dakshina Kannada
AGE LIMIT (as on date of notification):
i) The candidates should have completed 15 years of age and should NOT have completed 22/24 years for Freshers/Ex-ITI, MLT respectively.
ii) The Upper age is relaxable by 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 10 Years for Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD).
a. Candidates who want to avail the benefit of reservation of SC/ST must produce his/her Caste Certificate issued by the appropriate authority at the time of Document Verification. Similarly, the candidates who want to avail the benefit of reservation of OBC must produce a Caste Certificate and Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued by the appropriate authority at the time of Document Verification.
b. Candidates who want to avail the benefit of reservation must produce a Disability certificate issued by Competent Authority (i.e Medical Board constituted by the Central or State Government). The disability of the candidates should not be less than 40%.
Apprentices will be engaged in the following trades, the slots available in various trades with communal break up in Carriage& Wagon Works, Loco Works, Electrical Workshop, Railway Hospital/Perambur, and Chennai Division are tabulated below for the information of candidates.

Minimum Academic/Technical Qualification as per the Apprentices Act 1961:
a) Fresher Category:- Sl. No Trade Academic Qualification
1 Fitter, Painter & Welder Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10, +2 System of education or its equivalent.
2 Medical Laboratory Technician (Radiology, Pathology, Cardiology ) Should have passed 12th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10, +2 system of education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

1 Fitter, Machinist, MMV, Turner, Diesel Mechanic, Carpenter, Painter, Welder(G&E), Wireman, Advance Welder & R&AC Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10 +2 System of education and ITI course in the relevant trade-in Government recognized ITI
2 Electrician Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks)under 10 +2 System of education with Science as one of the subjects or its equivalent and ITI course in the relevant trade in Government recognized ITI
3 Electronics Mechanic Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10 +2 System of education with Science (Physics and Chemistry) and Mathematics or its equivalent and ITI course in the relevant trade in Government recognized ITI
4 PASAA Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10 +2 System of education & National Trade Certificate issued by National Council for Vocational Training in “Computer Operator and Programming Assistant”

Standard of Physical Fitness/Medical Examination:
Shortlisted candidates should produce a Medical certificate at the time of document verification in the prescribed format as per Apprentice Act 1961 and Para 4 of Apprenticeship Rules 1992 (as amended time to time).
The Medical certificates should be signed by Government Authorized Doctor (Gaz.) not below the rank of Asst.Surgeon of Central/State Government Hospital in terms Railway Board's letter no E(MPP)/2009/6/14 dated 04.12.2018.
